Enron’s Tangled Web
Tuesday, January 31st, 2006Against my better judgement, and against the view of five out of five dentists, I’ll be grinding my teeth through the Annual Report to Congress tonite.
Just a moment ago, on NPR, however, I heard something that makes my back straighten.
Apparently, the wizards at Enron were taping all of their phone comunication, and failed (miserably) to erase any of this evidence. The fact that these calls are so damning, and that the audio, EVEN THE AUDIO, – still exists points to their hubris as well as stupidity. The latter makes this all less than tragic.
This is all thanks to the Snohomish County Public Utilities District in Washington State, which is fighting to get the truth out.
I’ll post some of the choice bits of the audio, later, when I am back on the PBook. For now, here’s a link to a pdf of one of the conversations, wherein a California Enrgy producer agrees to shut down “off the books” to keep the crisis going.

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006I decided to take the whole tribe across the web, and Wordpress is definitely the vehicle with which to do that.
_>Sometimes, not often, but sometimes I am very aware of the incompatibility of the english language with saying something clearly. I certainly became aware of just how hard it was to be clear with Movable Type. I am not slamming the software, just the corrosion that I had allowed to build up. And more than simple description, this is a metaphor.
Things had just gotten to be too cloudy. It was time to act like “acting” was no longer an option. So Welcome to Wordpress. Welcome to the clean lines of the Kubrick Page Template. Welcome back. . . do be do . . .
